Ripley Valley PDA Public Transport Service Introduction
DCI & Associates have been working with TransLink Division of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Economic Development Queensland to introduce public transport to service the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA). DCI completed the investigation, concept and detailed planning, and future service strategy to support development and service provisions over a five year period. The first service was introduced in January 2019.
Network Planning Strategic Advice
DCI were engaged by TransLink Division of the Department or Transport and Main Roads to provide a Network Planning resource to manage public transport networks within South East Queensland and provide transport advice regarding infrastructure and services for projects across Queensland. Byron Bay Bus Capacity Assessment
DCI were engaged as a sub consultant to provide specialist advice regarding public transport operations in Byron Bay. DCI completed a review of the existing urban, rail-link and long distance coach schedule to identify the capacity requirements for a new bus station at Byron Bay. DCI also completed a review of potential growth and development to identify future capacity constraints and concerns. The advice provided by DCI influences the station design to provide sufficient capacity and infrastructure provisions for bus, shuttle services, kiss n ride, as well as pedestrian movements and considerations for wayfinding and safety.
Safer Routes to School Strategy
DCI & Associates were part of the SMEC Australia multidisciplinary team engaged by the City of Gold Coast to identify a program of infrastructure and non-infrastructure solutions to support improved connectivity to Gold Coast schools by providing safe walking and cycling options. DCI were engaged to develop the evaluation and prioritisation framework to assess and prioritise preferred infrastructure, initiative and program investments for primary and secondary Gold Coast school facilities with the goal of identifying a preferred short-list of schools for further detailed assessment.
Rooming Accommodation Compliance Assessment
DCI & Associates were engaged by a local property owner required to respond to a show cause notice and enforcement notice. The property was being used for short term accommodation however did not comply with the planning scheme or building requirements. DCI were able to advise on the changes required for the use of the property to comply with the Council planning scheme.
Home-based Business Compliance Assessment
DCI & Associates were engaged by a local property owner looking to commence a business from their home. DCI were able to advise the property owner on the operational and planning requirements to comply with Council’s planning scheme code and accepted outcomes. The owners compliance meant the business could commence without planning approval from Council.
BCC Pre-lodgement Advice
DCI were engaged to gain pre-lodge to advice on behalf of a property owner looking to develop within the Character residential zone. DCI were able to gather all required information and development impacts, and discuss these with Council to identify Council’s issues, concerns and interpretation of the planning scheme. DCI were able to successfully gain the required advice for the client to make an informed decision regarding their development intents.
RCC Response to Show Cause
DCI were engaged by a property owner operating a home business to assist in preparing information to respond to a show cause notice issued by Council. DCI were able to discuss with Council the nature of the concern and assist the property owner to modify their home business to remain within the accepted development criteria and negate the need to apply for development approval.
Principal Service Planner
DCI & Associates are engaged by TransLink Division of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to complete a secondment filling the role of Team Leader for the Greater Brisbane Network Planning team. This role provides network planning, technical advice, team management and support for the public transport networks within Moreton Bay, Redlands including Southern Moreton Bay Islands and North Stradbroke Island, Logan, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Warwick; as well as continual liaison with public transport operators and local government.
Gateway 3 Evaluation of Toowoomba Bus Service Improvement Project
The Toowoomba Bus Service Improvement Project (BSIP) involved a review of the Toowoomba public transport network and the inclusion of additional weekday and weekend services, improved coverage to new communities and higher frequencies. DCI were engaged to undertake an evaluation of the BSIP to identify how the network has performed since implementation. DCI were able to review patronage data, community and stakeholder feedback, and operational data to ascertain the state of the network. DCI identified a list of recommendations for future consideration in the network as growth and development occurs, however overall the changes made to the network were positive and have resulted in an increase in patronage.
Infrastructure Planner Project Manager
DCI, partnered with NPnD (Noller Planning and Design), were engaged by Program Delivery and Operations division of the Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide an Infrastructure Planning resource to manage and deliver a range of public and active transport projects and business cases across Queensland. MBRC Building Works Approval
DCI were engaged by a property owner seeking to build a domestic outbuilding (shed) which did not comply with the planning scheme due to size, setbacks and proximity within a riparian buffer. DCI were able to prepare a development application addressing the concerns of Moreton Bay Regional Council and identify mitigation measures to reduce the impacts and comply with the acceptable performance outcomes identified in the planning scheme. The domestic outbuilding was given development approval.
Strathpine Bus Facility Project
DCI & Associates were part of the PSA Consulting (Australia) project team undertaking the review of the Strathpine bus facility for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. This study involves analysing the current trends and patterns at the existing facility and surrounding rail stations, and identify options to improve public transport integration, customer connectivity and the overall operations within the study area. DCI provided advice on existing and proposed public transport operations, analysis of patronage to establish travel behaviour and patterns, and input into the design, function and operations of proposed concept options for a new integrated bus facility.
